About this plugin
Air Music Technology's Mini Grand occupies a pragmatic position in the virtual piano market, delivering solid acoustic piano emulation without the computational overhead of more elaborate sample libraries. The plugin draws from premium piano recordings across seven distinct models, each optimized for different musical contexts - from classical performance to contemporary production work.
The technical foundation rests on carefully curated sample sets paired with re-pedaling technology that simulates realistic string resonance behavior. This approach proves effective for capturing the subtle sympathetic vibrations that occur when the sustain pedal is engaged, a critical element for authentic-sounding sustained passages. The inclusion of both equal and stretched tuning options provides flexibility for users working across different harmonic contexts, though most will find the stretched tuning more musically convincing for acoustic simulation.

Mini Grand's room simulation engine adds spatial character without requiring external convolution processing, a practical inclusion for mixing environments where adding reverb separately might prove redundant. The interface prioritizes accessibility - this is clearly designed for quick sonic selection rather than deep parameter diving.
The plugin serves producers and engineers who need reliable piano textures without committing significant system resources or spending hours auditioning massive sample libraries. It's less specialized than dedicated classical piano tools or experimental virtual instruments, instead functioning as a dependable workhorse for contemporary music production across genres.
At its price point, Mini Grand represents fair value for users already invested in Air Music's ecosystem. Those seeking highly detailed Steinway or Bösendorfer modeling might look elsewhere, but for straightforward, professional-quality piano sounds, this delivers.
