About this plugin
AIR Electric is a comprehensive electric piano plugin that combines sampled instruments with dynamic modeling to deliver authentic recreations of classic keyboards spanning Wurlitzers, FM pianos, and related vintage gear. The sound engine relies on proprietary hybrid synthesis, blending optimized sampling with physical modeling techniques refined over two decades of development. This approach yields substantially more responsive and nuanced character than static sample playback, with velocities translating into genuine timbral shifts rather than simple volume changes.
The interface emphasizes workflow efficiency through dedicated parameter sections for Pickup, Envelope, Bell, and Noise characteristics, allowing detailed sound shaping without menu diving. Built-in effects processing includes Tremolo, Tube Distortion, Chorus, Delay, and Spring Reverb, each accessible from any editing page for rapid prototyping during sessions. The effects architecture derives from AIR's Creative FX collection, a suite that has shipped with Pro Tools since version 8 and maintains credibility among professional studios.

Electric inherits the sonic foundation of AIR Velvet, its predecessor, while expanding sonic palette and control depth. The factory library contains over 80 presets developed by the same team responsible for the DB-33 organ plugin, providing immediate production-ready tones while serving as reference points for custom sound design.
The plugin suits producers seeking authentic electric piano character without the limitations of purely sampled instruments. Its modeling approach grants expressiveness that rewards playing dynamics and nuance, making it particularly valuable for session work where adaptability across musical contexts matters. For engineers requiring period-accurate electric keyboard textures with contemporary sonic flexibility, Electric represents a capable reference tool.
