About this plugin
XLN Audio's Addictive Trigger represents a meaningful advance in drum replacement technology, addressing persistent frustrations that have plagued triggering plugins for years. The plugin's core innovation, the Audio Fingerprint detection algorithm, uses FFT analysis to identify drum hits with unusual accuracy even in problematic source material. This technical approach proves particularly valuable when working with heavily bleed-laden recordings or drums captured in less-than-ideal acoustic environments, situations where traditional threshold-based triggering typically demands extensive manual correction.
The SuperStart system further reduces workflow friction by analyzing incoming audio and automatically proposing detection settings, allowing engineers to move past technical setup and toward creative decisions quickly. The plugin integrates proven sound design from Addictive Drums 2, offering a library of professional-grade drum samples across multiple kits and playing styles. The Drum Vault expansion significantly expands this palette with additional sounds that maintain the same careful curation and mix-ready character.

Addictive Trigger suits engineers working across recording, mixing, and live sound contexts where drum replacement or enhancement enhances recordings without compromising acoustic character. While drum replacement remains somewhat controversial in certain circles, the plugin's emphasis on accuracy means users can exercise genuine control over when and how replacement occurs, rather than fighting against inaccurate triggering.
Among comparable tools, Addictive Trigger occupies a practical middle ground - more sophisticated than basic threshold-based triggering yet more immediately usable than systems requiring extensive parameter tweaking. It represents solid engineering focused on solving actual problems practitioners face.
