About this plugin
Addictive Keys: Studio Grand delivers a meticulously sampled Steinway Model D concert grand piano, captured across multiple microphone perspectives in one of Europe's most acoustically refined recording spaces. XLN Audio's approach prioritizes production flexibility without sacrificing sonic authenticity, a distinction that separates this instrument from many piano libraries that prioritize either character or utility.
The core strength lies in its microphone mixing architecture. Rather than presenting a single, fixed piano tone, Studio Grand allows engineers to blend close-mic perspectives with room and ambient channels, enabling the instrument to integrate into virtually any mix context. This proves particularly valuable in modern production where accommodating a full-bodied acoustic piano without compromising vocal clarity or competing frequencies presents a genuine technical challenge.

The Steinway itself was selected from an audition process specifically for tonal characteristics: crystal clarity paired with controlled resonance that avoids the mud common in many sampled pianos. Recordings employed vintage tube and ribbon microphones, contributing to the warm, detailed character evident across the instrument's dynamic range.
Beyond raw sampling quality, the included ExploreMaps preset system offers sonic variations spanning natural interpretations to processed textures, affording both classical approaches and contemporary studio applications. The plugin suits producers and engineers working across genres who demand an acoustic piano capable of both intimate solo passages and dense arrangement contexts.
Studio Grand occupies a thoughtful middle ground within the competitive grand piano sample market, prioritizing practical studio integration while maintaining the tonal character expected from premium sampling.
