About this plugin
Wavesfactory's Equalizer represents a meaningful shift in how automatic EQ operates. Rather than applying preset curves or machine learning trained on specific genres, it pursues true spectral balance by dividing incoming audio into 32 bands and independently adjusting each to reach a consistent target level. This approach proves especially useful for salvaging poorly recorded material, taming resonant sources, or establishing a neutral foundation before intentional shaping.
The plugin's core appeal lies in its speed and transparency. Where traditional mixing demands time-consuming automation passes or manual EQ work, Equalizer accomplishes comparable results in real time with minimal CPU overhead. Its single-knob operation makes it accessible, yet the control set reveals itself as genuinely sophisticated. Mid/side processing, tilt control for brightness adjustment, separate cut and boost parameters with delta audition, and draw-on-spectrum customization ensure experienced engineers aren't boxed in by automatic processing.

The attack and release controls warrant attention. They allow users to shape how aggressively the plugin responds to dynamic changes, preventing the robotic artifacts common in earlier automatic EQ designs. The mix knob with auto-gain functionality provides additional safeguarding against unintended level shifts.
Equalizer suits tracking engineers dealing with difficult room acoustics, mixing engineers seeking quick tonal coherence across stems, and mastering specialists handling varied source material. It occupies a practical middle ground between basic graphic EQs and complex multiband processors. While not a replacement for intentional EQ artistry, it excels as a corrective tool and mixing accelerator.
