Voltage Amps is Waves' take on amp modeling for modern production workflows. The plugin leverages convolution-based cabinet modeling paired with traditional amp circuit emulation to deliver a straightforward alternative to more comprehensive amp suites. Its core strength lies in immediate usability: five guitar and three bass amp models cover genuine stylistic ground, from Fender-style cleans through British crunch to high-gain territory, all without requiring deep parameter diving.

The technical foundation rests on impulse response cabinets and a Focus control that adjusts the amp's frequency response to compensate for different guitar and pickup characteristics. This approach is practical rather than revolutionary, addressing a real problem in virtual amp design where one amp rarely satisfies multiple instruments equally. The stereo room simulation adds dimensional space without overwhelming the mix.
