About this plugin
Electrum is United Plugins' comprehensive guitar processing suite, designed to consolidate amplifier modeling, cabinet simulation, and effects into a single-window interface. The plugin's core strength lies in its pragmatic approach to gain staging and tonal matching. The Smart Input Setting feature automates level optimization by analyzing your playing dynamics, eliminating the guesswork in signal chain setup that often undermines subsequent processing. More notably, the EQ Matching function allows you to reference professional recordings and automatically adjust your tone toward those characteristics, a genuinely useful feature for tone-matching work that typically requires manual ear training.
The amp section offers five distinct models covering clean through heavily saturated territory, built on analysis of established hardware units but with added flexibility for custom voicing. The cabinet simulation deserves particular attention: rather than relying solely on impulse responses, Electrum combines 16 cabinet types with 21 alterations to generate over 300 variants, plus independent resonance and ambience controls. This parametric approach provides genuine sonic flexibility beyond typical IR-based solutions.

Electrum targets working producers and engineers who value efficiency without compromising depth. The single-screen layout genuinely reduces workflow friction compared to menu-heavy competitors. However, experienced users should understand this philosophy emphasizes accessibility over granular control of individual processing stages.
Among comparable tools like Neural DSP and Amplitube, Electrum occupies the middle ground between specialized single-amp solutions and overwhelming mega-suites. It's particularly valuable for mixing-stage guitar work where quick tonal decisions matter more than deep sonic exploration. The combination of reliable core processing and thoughtful workflow design makes it a legitimate alternative to more established platforms.
