About this plugin
Waves' OneKnob Filter distills low-pass filtering into its most essential form: a single rotary control that sweeps cutoff frequency with analog-grade smoothness across the entire audible spectrum. The plugin implements a 12 dB/octave slope typical of classic Moog and ARP synthesizers, delivering the gentle rolloff characteristic that made vintage gear sonically distinctive. Unlike digital filters prone to aliasing artifacts or quantized stepping, OneKnob Filter's sweep maintains fluid, sample-accurate frequency transitions regardless of automation speed or host tempo.
The resonance circuit offers four discrete settings, ranging from flat response through aggressive self-oscillation at 12 dB of boost. This tiered approach keeps parameter management straightforward while accommodating everything from transparent tone shaping to pronounced emphasis. Cutoff range spans sub-20 Hz territory useful for surgical bass tightening through beyond 20 kHz for presence peaks, making the plugin adaptable across instruments and mix duties.

For production contexts, OneKnob Filter excels during arrangement work - automating the knob generates authentic wah textures without synthetic artifacts. Studio engineers favor it for vocal and instrumental tone refinement where gentle filtering preserves natural timbre while removing harshness. DJs working electronic music benefit from its club-mixer familiarity, allowing intuitive real-time control in performance settings.
The plugin occupies practical middle ground between oversimplified single-knob tools and CPU-intensive surgical EQs. Its deliberately constrained feature set reflects Waves' philosophy that core functionality executed exceptionally well serves producers better than parameter abundance. For straightforward, sonically credible filtering, OneKnob Filter remains a reliable studio utility.
