About this plugin
Waves GEQ is a comprehensive graphic equalizer designed for both studio and live mixing applications. The plugin delivers 30 ISO-spaced frequency bands with independent gain control, providing the broad strokes needed for room correction or venue-specific acoustic compensation. Its dual-topology architecture sets it apart: a modern mode eliminates inter-band phase interactions that can muddy adjacent frequencies, while a classic mode employs proportional Q filters that narrow their bandwidth as gain increases, mimicking vintage hardware behavior.
Beyond straightforward graphic EQ, GEQ incorporates genuinely useful tools. A floating parametric stage with bell response allows surgical intervention when graphic bands alone fall short. High and low-pass filters handle frequency extremes without consuming graphic band real estate. The dual-input real-time analyzer, calibrated to within 18 dB gain, helps identify problem frequencies and verify corrections - essential for live sound engineers troubleshooting unfamiliar venues or studios attempting acoustic matching.

The interface prioritizes workflow efficiency. Its touchscreen-friendly design supports curve drawing rather than clicking individual sliders, streamlining large EQ adjustments. Zero-latency operation makes GEQ suitable for live mixing without introducing perceptible delay.
GEQ occupies middle ground between simplified graphic EQ plugins and complex parametric tools. It's best suited for engineers who need broad tonal shaping with precision flexibility - venue system optimization, master bus correction, or problem-solving on individual tracks. The addition of parametric control and analysis tools elevates it beyond basic graphic equalizers, though it won't replace dedicated parametric EQs for detailed surgical work. For its feature set and architectural approach, GEQ represents a capable, practical solution for demanding mixing scenarios.
