About this plugin
McDSP's FilterBank Native v7 represents a mature, comprehensive approach to digital equalization that prioritizes sonic flexibility and precise control. The plugin bundles three distinct EQ models - the E6060 console-style parametric, the F202 steep filter set, and the P606 parametric with variable Q modes - allowing users to voice tracks across a wide sonic spectrum without leaving the session.
The technical foundation is solid. Double precision processing and zero latency algorithms ensure transparent operation, while analog saturation modeling in each band prevents the digital brittleness that can plague aggressive EQ moves. The parametric EQ's 20Hz-21kHz range with up to 5-octave-wide bell curves and variable Q (0.2 - 12.0) provides the surgical precision modern mixing demands, complemented by high and low shelving with independent frequency, gain, and slope control. The steep filters deliver genuine utility for problem-solving, with adjustable resonant peaks exceeding 24dB for character or protection.

FilterBank excels for mixing engineers and sound designers who value surgical control without sacrificing musicality. The 48-band capacity per instance enables complex corrective work or creative tonal sculpting, though the learning curve steepens beyond basic EQ tasks. The Native version runs efficiently on current CPU architectures with full Apple Silicon optimization.
Compared to stock DAW EQs, FilterBank provides measurably more control and sonic options. It occupies middle ground between utility and specialized tools - practical for daily mixing without the boutique pricing or single-purpose design of niche plugins. For professionals requiring dependable, transparent equalization across diverse material, FilterBank remains a reliable choice.
