About this plugin
The Electric 200 Piano is a meticulously sampled emulation of the Fender Rhodes electric piano, specifically targeting the sonic character of the 1970s instruments that defined the era's most influential recordings. Built on extensive multisampling of two distinct vintage units, the plugin captures the mechanical complexity that made these pianos indispensable to players from Stevie Wonder to Queen's keyboardists.
What sets this tool apart from broader Rhodes emulations is its attention to velocity response and mechanical behavior. The detailed sampling reveals how these instruments respond across dynamic ranges, while authentic controls for hammer action and key-up sounds provide the nuance necessary for convincing performances. The tonal controls allow for subtle shaping between brighter and warmer character, essential for matching the variations inherent in original hardware.

The effects section is thoughtfully curated rather than comprehensive. Tremolo, chorus, phaser, and reverb recreate the amplified stage sounds of the period, while compression and limiting address the dynamic range of typical 70s production chains. The amp and drive controls enable further character adjustment without requiring parallel processing.
This plugin is best suited for producers and engineers working within soul, funk, rock, and R&B contexts where authentic Rhodes character matters. Session musicians and recording artists will appreciate the flexibility to dial in specific tonal flavors without sacrificing authenticity. While specialized rather than universally applicable, Electric 200 delivers what it promises: precise reproduction of documented classic recordings rather than a generalized approximation.
