About this plugin
Waves' 360° Surround Tools addresses a genuine technical gap in post-production workflows: comprehensive 5.1 surround mixing requires specialized processing at every stage, and assembling equivalent tools from disparate manufacturers introduces workflow friction and sonic inconsistency. This 12-plugin bundle consolidates the essential processing chain into a cohesive ecosystem.
The core strength lies in its dynamics architecture. The C360 Surround Compressor and L360 Limiter handle 5.1-specific gain reduction across the surround field, while the MV360 adds linkable multi-band compression for more surgical control. These aren't simply stereo processors duplicated across channels; they're designed to maintain spatial coherence while taming dynamics. The R360 Surround Reverb and S360 Surround Imager provide spatial enhancement without collapsing the discrete channel separation that surround mixing demands.

The metering suite - dual Dorrough plugins for stereo and surround monitoring - offers real-time visual feedback critical for maintaining broadcast compliance. The LFE360 and LoAir address low-frequency management with precision: the former's steep 60 dB/octave filtering prevents subharmonic bleed into the LFE channel, while the latter processes bass across the main mix.
Practical additions round out the package. The UM225 and UM226 upmixing plugins convert stereo sources to discrete 5.0 or 5.1 content, reducing manual object placement. The IDR360 bit re-quantizer handles dithering and format conversion transparently.
Best suited for post-production facilities, broadcast mixing rooms, and mastering engineers working regularly in surround, this bundle justifies itself primarily through workflow consolidation rather than sonic innovation. Most tools perform competently
