About this plugin
360° Surround Tools represents Waves' comprehensive approach to 5.1 surround mixing, bundling 12 specialized plugins designed to address the technical and creative challenges of post-production surround work. Rather than treating surround as an afterthought, the package acknowledges that mixing for discrete five-channel playback requires dedicated tools built from the ground up.
The bundle's architecture spans the mixing chain logically. Dynamics handling comes via the C360 Compressor and L360 Limiter, both engineered specifically for surround source material where traditional stereo dynamics processors prove insufficient. The MV360 adds mid-level compression flexibility with linkable channels. For spatial design, the S360 Imager and R360 Reverb provide surround-specific panning and ambience, while the LoAir addresses the frequent challenge of low-frequency management in surround contexts. The LFE360 offers surgical control over the dedicated subwoofer channel with its steep 60 dB/octave filtering.

The UM225 and UM226 upmixers handle the practical reality that most source material arrives in stereo, converting it intelligently to 5.0 or 5.1 formats. Metering comes from both stereo and surround Dorrough plugins, essential for maintaining consistent levels across discrete channels. The IDR360 handles the bit-depth decisions that matter in digital mastering workflows.
This bundle solidifies its position as the industry standard for surround post-production, particularly in broadcast and film contexts where surround mixing represents a core requirement rather than a creative option. The technical execution across all plugins reflects purpose-built design rather than generic stereo tools adapted for surround duty.
