About this plugin
Wavea's Acid expansion for Flite Create and Play delivers a comprehensive toolkit for producers seeking authentic vintage synthesizer and drum machine textures rooted in acid house production. The library captures the sonic DNA of machines that defined the genre: the Roland TB-303, TR-808, TR-909, SH-101, MC-202, and complementary instruments like the Juno 60 and CR-68. Rather than relying on preset interpolation, Acid uses multi-sampled recordings from original analog hardware, preserving the harmonic complexity and subtle irregularities that distinguish hardware synthesis from digital emulation.
The expansion includes 36 presets organized into drum machine kits, bass patches built from original single-hit samples, synth strings, and performance loops. Each preset offers eight assignable macros and full modulation controls, allowing meaningful sound design work beyond mere recall. The drum section's standout feature is a multi-velocity TR-808 kit processed through tape saturation, providing the compressed, characterful response of analog recording chains rather than pristine digital samples.

Acid is best suited for producers working in house, techno, and electronic music genres where period-accurate synthesis matters. It occupies a specific niche: deeper and more hardware-focused than general sample packs, yet more accessible than learning synthesis from scratch on modeled instruments. The reliance on multi-sampling rather than modeling represents a deliberate choice that trades flexibility for sonic authenticity. This approach resonates with producers who value the documented limitations and happy accidents of vintage analog equipment as compositional features rather than problems to solve.
