About this plugin
Wave Alchemy's Radiance models seven distinct EMT-140 plate reverberators sourced from studios worldwide, each capturing the unique sonic fingerprint that decades of use and environmental factors impart on these mechanical transducers. Rather than presenting a generic plate algorithm, the plugin acknowledges what any experienced engineer knows: no two vintage plates sound identical. The selection spans the tonal spectrum from dark and colored to bright and articulate, allowing you to match specific aesthetic requirements without reaching for additional processing chains.
The modeling approach extends beyond simple impulse response capture. Radiance incorporates DSP that reconstructs the mechanical behavior of each plate, including transducer response, damping characteristics, and the subtle nonlinearities that define plate reverb's character. This technical foundation allows the modern control set to operate meaningfully rather than feel cosmetic. Built-in modulation, ducking, and mid-side processing address common mixing scenarios that typically demand additional plugins, reducing latency and streamlining workflow.

For mixing engineers and producers accustomed to working with plate reverb, Radiance functions as a legitimate alternative to either hardware or convolution-based approximations. The seven model variants provide genuine tonal variety without the space requirements or maintenance demands of physical plates. Dialog mixing benefits from the tighter, more controlled character that plates provide compared to algorithmic reverbs, while vocal and instrument recording applications gain access to the dense, musical diffusion that made plate reverb an industry standard.
