About this plugin
Glow is a reverb plugin based on the EMT 250, the landmark 1981 digital reverberator that shaped the sonic signature of 80s production. Wave Alchemy has faithfully modeled the hardware's core character while adding contemporary refinements that expand its utility in modern workflows.
The plugin excels at the tasks the original hardware performed best: delivering punchy, articulate gated drums through the NonLin 2 algorithm, creating lush atmospheric spaces for vocals and pads, and generating reverse reverbs that feel both retro and timeless. Across 14 reverb programs spanning halls, plates, rooms, and experimental spaces, Glow maintains a consistent tonal signature - bright, detailed, and distinctly colorful rather than neutral.

Where Glow distinguishes itself is in its processing tools. The Smooth control intelligently reduces transient peaks before reverb processing, warming and thickening drums without surgery on the dry signal. The Duck feature provides responsive gain reduction that keeps reverb tails visible without muddying the mix. Modulation parameters range from subtle diffusion to pronounced stereo movement, offering flexibility the original hardware couldn't provide.
Glow appeals primarily to producers and engineers seeking that specific 80s character, but its sonic qualities extend beyond period emulation. The bright, articulate reverb tail suits contemporary production across electronic, pop, and alternative genres. It's less suited for naturalistic acoustic simulation or minimalist aesthetic production, where its inherent coloration might prove intrusive.
As a hardware emulation, Glow stands among the most sonically accurate and musically useful reverb plugins available, offering authentic character with practical modern features.
