About this plugin
Aeris represents a practical approach to vocal synthesis and arrangement, combining extensively sampled choir and solo vocal performances with Kontakt's modulation capabilities. Vir2 recorded male and female choirs alongside four solo voices (bass, tenor, alto, soprano) performing sustained vowels (Ah, Oh, Oo) and hums with true legato transitions, providing the foundation for realistic vocal textures without relying purely on synthesis.
The instrument's core strength lies in its legato implementation and articulation options. Non-vibrato, vibrato, and true legato articulations offer flexibility for everything from intimate solos to dense ensemble textures. The vowel selector allows real-time morphing between recorded phonemes, a practical feature for creating natural vocal movement and expression within a single sustained note.

Beyond playback, Aeris includes substantive sound design tools: four simultaneous LFOs modulate volume, pan, and EQ parameters (high-pass, low-pass, bandpass), plus pitch modulation. The dual sequencers add rhythmic complexity and time-based variation, moving the instrument beyond static pad territory. Eight effects round out the processing chain, though integration with external processing is equally viable.
This tool suits composers seeking realistic vocal arrangements without session singers, sound designers exploring textural possibilities, and producers needing flexible choir libraries within a single interface. Relative to specialized vocal synthesis tools or dedicated choir libraries, Aeris occupies middle ground - more customizable than sample playback alone, more grounded than algorithmic synthesis.
Aeris requires Kontakt 5 and functions as a plugin instrument rather than an effects processor, despite occasional marketing suggestions otherwise.
