About this plugin
United Plugins' Electrum represents a comprehensive rethinking of how guitar processing should function within a DAW. Rather than fragmenting tone-shaping across multiple plugin instances, Electrum consolidates amp modeling, cabinet simulation, and EQ matching into a single, genuinely functional interface - a philosophy that distinguishes it from competitors who prioritize visual complexity over workflow efficiency.
The core architecture centers on five amp models spanning clean to heavily saturated territory, each sharing unified control schemes that eliminate the learning curve typically associated with amp modeling plugins. The cabinet simulation engine deserves particular attention: 300+ models derived from 16 cabinet types with 21 variant parameters provide granular tonal control without overwhelming the user. This scale of variation allows experienced engineers to dial in specific frequency characteristics rather than settling for generic cabinet choices.

Electrum's most distinctive feature is its EQ Matching algorithm, which analyzes reference guitar performances and automatically adjusts your tone toward a specified target. While not a replacement for critical listening, this tool accelerates the initial matching phase and provides a quantifiable baseline for further refinement.
The Smart Input Setting function automatically calibrates gain staging by analyzing your playing dynamics, addressing a fundamental problem in digital guitar processing where improper input levels compromise downstream processor performance. This automated approach benefits both meticulous engineers and players prioritizing speed over manual tweaking.
Electrum occupies a specific niche: guitarists and producers needing legitimate amp and cab modeling without maintaining separate effects chains. Its single-window design and intelligent automation make it particularly valuable for remix work and rapid iteration, though purists may prefer the granular control offered by more modular alternatives.
