About this plugin
KANDY is UJAM's latest entry in its Beatmaker series, designed specifically for producers working within contemporary pop and genre-fluid production contexts. As a loyalty upgrade, it provides existing UJAM users seamless access to this drum machine plugin without redundant licensing costs.
The plugin's core strength lies in its sample-based architecture paired with extensive sound design processing. Rather than relying on raw acoustic drum recordings, KANDY employs heavily processed, heavily EQ'd samples that prioritize punch and separation in dense mixes - a requirement for modern pop production where drums often function as the primary compositional element. The proprietary Sweetness algorithm applies intelligent multiband compression and transient shaping, allowing producers to dial in the precise aggression and clarity needed for chart-competitive material.

KANDY's workflow centers on 12 drum kits, 20 styles, and 460 patterns across 50 presets, providing substantial variation without overwhelming the interface. MIDI drag-and-drop functionality enables easy integration into most DAWs, while tempo synchronization occurs automatically. The pattern library spans influences from broken dance rhythms to techno-inflected structures, reflecting the genuinely hybrid nature of contemporary pop production.
The plugin suits producers seeking production-ready drum textures without extensive customization. Its processed, polished character trades flexibility for immediate sonic consistency - useful for writers and producers on deadline, less ideal for those requiring deep tweaking or organic acoustic character. Among competing drum plugins, KANDY occupies a narrow but deliberate niche: commercially-oriented pop production where sonic aggression and genre fluidity matter more than acoustic authenticity.
