About this plugin
UJAM's IRON 2 represents a significant refinement of their rock guitar engine, delivering substantially re-recorded samples and expanded sonic palette compared to the original. The plugin operates primarily as a performance instrument rather than a traditional effects processor, allowing users to trigger guitar phrases across 30 styles with over 350 articulations sampled from professional session work. The new instrument mode grants direct control over individual riff playback, moving beyond the previous version's more rigid sequencing approach.
The signal chain follows conventional guitar architecture: stomp box modeling precedes dynamic amp and speaker simulation, allowing effects to shape tone authentically. The 30 stomp box configurations cover essential textures (wah, delay, chorus, reverb, distortion) with appropriate character, while 60 finisher multi-effects handle broad processing tasks. Drop D tuning and doubling modes provide the heaviness expected in contemporary rock production without requiring manual retuning.

IRON 2 suits producers seeking professional-quality guitar layers without performance demands or extensive editing workflows. Session musicians appreciate the sound quality and realistic articulation; beginners benefit from the straightforward interface and absence of technical gatekeeping. The engine integrates logically within rock and metal productions, particularly when paired with UJAM's complementary ROWDY bass and BRUTE drum engines.
While lacking the deep customization of full guitar amp modeling software, IRON 2 prioritizes efficiency and immediate usability. It occupies a practical middle ground between generic guitar loops and complete amp simulation suites, making it a legitimate production tool rather than merely a convenience plugin.
