About this plugin
AmpliTube 5 represents IK Multimedia's most comprehensive approach to amp and cabinet modeling, built on two decades of collaboration with major manufacturers and artists. The plugin's foundation rests on Dynamic Interaction Modeling (DIM) and Volumetric Impulse Response (VIR) technology, which together capture the nonlinear characteristics of tube amplifiers and speaker behavior with measurable accuracy. With over 180 gear models covering the entire signal chain - from boutique stomps through classic and modern amplifiers to microphone modeling and room simulation - the plugin functions as a complete tone design environment rather than a simple amp emulator.
The architecture supports up to 57 simultaneous models with genuine series/parallel routing and blended DI capabilities, providing serious flexibility for complex signal chains. The cabinet section, rebuilt around VIR technology and informed by 143,000+ impulse response measurements, represents a particular strength. Users can load custom IRs, a feature critical for engineers wanting to integrate their own cabinet recordings or third-party impulse libraries.

AmpliTube 5 works equally well as a standalone recorder with an integrated 8-track DAW and mixer, or as a plugin within existing production workflows. The tuner, looper, and stage-ready Live Mode add practical utility beyond core tone generation.
The plugin occupies a middle ground in the modeling landscape. It outperforms many free alternatives and matches commercial competitors in sonic character, though tone remains subjective. Best suited for guitarists and bassists needing production-ready amp tones without hardware constraints - whether for recording, practice, or live performance - AmpliTube 5 delivers genuine versatility and reasonable accuracy across its extensive model library.
