About this plugin
UJAM's BRAAASS represents a streamlined approach to orchestral brass synthesis, drawing from Hans Zimmer's extensive recording library at Remote Control Studios. Rather than modeling individual brass instruments through synthesis, this plugin operates as a phrase-based performance instrument, offering 78 pre-arranged styles containing 468 phrases and one-shot elements. This architecture prioritizes musical workflow over sonic manipulation, allowing producers to audition and layer pre-recorded brass performances across cinematic, rhythmic, and experimental contexts.
The dual-section architecture separates low brass (tubas, bass trombones) from high brass (trumpets, horns), enabling independent control via a crossfade slider. Each section responds to dedicated Character and Motion FX parameters, providing moderate customization without overwhelming interface complexity. The 250+ Finisher presets extend sonic character through reverb, delay, and experimental processing chains, though sound design depth remains limited compared to dedicated effects plugins.

BRAAASS suits producers working across film scoring, hybrid composition, and beat-making who prioritize fast phrase integration over granular instrument control. The pre-arranged phrases streamline arrangement rather than encourage deep synthesis exploration. Existing UJAM customers upgrading via the loyalty crossgrade path will find familiar operational paradigms and integration within the UJAM ecosystem.
Against dedicated orchestral sample libraries or brass VSTs offering sample browsing, BRAAASS trades flexibility for curated phrase design and Zimmer's production aesthetic. It functions most effectively as a compositional accelerant rather than a comprehensive brass solution, best suited for producers valuing signature sound design over sonic versatility.
