About this plugin
UJAM's AMBER 2 represents a meaningful refinement of their steel-string acoustic virtual instrument, offering songwriters and producers a notably improved session guitarist plugin. This upgrade builds on AMBER 1's foundation with expanded phrase libraries, enhanced microphone modeling, and a more sophisticated effects chain designed to capture authentic acoustic character across contemporary genres.
The core strength lies in its phrase-based architecture. Rather than attempting complex sample triggering, AMBER 2 provides 30 playing styles containing over 350 pre-recorded phrases, allowing users to construct coherent guitar parts without extensive manual editing. This approach works particularly well for indie, pop, and contemporary rock productions where the goal is rapid iteration rather than meticulous note-by-note control.

Sonically, AMBER 2 exhibits warmth and presence without the brittleness common to lower-tier acoustic plugins. The developers employed multiple microphone and pickup configurations during recording, yielding genuine tonal variety from clean to saturated textures. The integrated stompbox emulations - compressors, filters, delays, reverbs - function adequately, though they don't match dedicated effects plugins in depth or character.
AMBER 2 suits producers seeking quick, professional-quality acoustic accompaniment without extensive learning curves. It excels at generating backing guitar parts for demos and arrangements, though experienced players may find its predetermined phrasing limiting for intricate fingerstyle work or highly specific voicings.
For AMBER 1 owners, the upgrade justifies consideration through expanded content and refined sonic character, though existing users seeking marginal improvements should evaluate whether the additions warrant the expense.
