About this plugin
Vir2's Acou6tics stands as a comprehensive virtual acoustic instrument library built on the proven Kontakt engine. The plugin captures six distinct instruments - steel-string, twelve-string, nylon, ukulele, mandolin, and guitalele - with meticulous attention to playing technique and tonal variation. Each instrument contains between 4,000 and 8,000 samples, providing substantial fidelity across the full range.
The recording methodology distinguishes this tool from competitors. Vir2 employed Blumlein stereo miking alongside piezo pickup channels, capturing both acoustic space and direct signal. The approach emphasizes a naturally dry tone without phase complications when mixing to mono, crucial for professional production contexts. This dual perspective grants users considerable flexibility in balancing air and immediacy.

Playing articulations cover the essential palette: sustains recorded with plectrum and finger variations, muted techniques including palm and hand muting, legatos, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, and harmonics. All articulations are available across every string and fret, eliminating the sample mapping compromises found in lesser libraries. The sympathetic resonance modeling and adjustable virtual room control provide additional sonic dimensionality.
Acou6tics suits producers and composers requiring authentic acoustic textures without recording logistics. Session musicians and arrangers benefit from the extensive articulation set and multiple instrument options within a single interface. The plugin's compatibility with VST, RTAS, and AAX ensures integration across modern DAWs.
While specialized virtual instruments have since emerged, Acou6tics remains a capable, well-sampled solution for projects demanding convincing acoustic guitar work. Its technical foundation and comprehensive articulation set justify consideration alongside contemporary alternatives.
