About this plugin
Ueberschall's Mute Trumpet brings an extensive library of harmon mute trumpet phrases into the Elastik sampler environment, capturing the intimate, breathy character Miles Davis popularized throughout his modal and fusion work. The collection spans 1.3GB across 41 key and tempo folders, delivering nearly 700 loops and phrases recorded between 60 and 90 BPM with minimal processing - just raw room ambience preserved without EQ or compression applied.
The sonic character is notably open and transparent. Rather than heavy-handed studio treatment, these recordings reveal the instrument's natural resonance and the performer's expressive control. The playing demonstrates restraint and nuance, with dynamics ranging from delicate, fragile passages to powerful crescendos suitable for melodic emphasis. This dynamic range gives producers genuine interpretive flexibility within a cohesive aesthetic.

Elastik's time-stretching and pitch-shifting engines allow straightforward manipulation across folders, making it practical to combine phrases or adapt them to existing projects without the tonal degradation that sometimes accompanies such processing. The architecture supports building longer performances from individual phrases, valuable for composers seeking extended solo statements.
While jazz remains the natural home for this sound, the muted trumpet's characteristic warmth translates effectively into soul, funk, lofi, and R&B contexts. The downtempo emphasis positions it well alongside complementary libraries like Ueberschall's Upright Bass 2 or Tenor Saxophone.
For producers and composers seeking authentic harmon mute trumpet textures without hiring session musicians, Mute Trumpet delivers recorded performances of professional caliber with the creative flexibility modern production demands.
