Tronsonic's Solino String Proto Ensemble MK 1 is a convolution-based emulation of a theoretical Eminent Solina prototype, sampled directly from an original Mark 1 unit with the ensemble effect permanently engaged. The plugin captures the harmonic character of that machine's signal path through vintage valve and transformer circuitry, eschewing tape saturation in favor of preserving the purity of the original oscillator waveforms.
The instrument's architecture allows unprecedented flexibility in string ensemble construction. Users can layer any combination of six individual string instruments across the keyboard, with independent keyrange assignment and parameter control for each voice. This modular approach yields string textures ranging from traditional ensemble thickness to highly unconventional synthetic orchestration, scaled only by available CPU resources.
Two distinct phasor implementations provide movement and spatial width without relying on simple chorus effects. The customizable EQ Modulation engine adds tonal evolution and dynamic filtering, enabling the creation of complex, evolving pad textures that respond naturally to performance dynamics.
The Solino occupies a specific sonic territory: warmer and more tactile than purely digital string emulations, yet distinctly electronic compared to hardware Solina units. Its character suits contemporary composition, film scoring, and electronic music production where analogue authenticity and modern flexibility are both required. The sampling methodology avoids the brittle quality common to older digital recreations while maintaining the characteristic ensemble shimmer that defined 1970s string synthesis.
