About this plugin
TDR Infrasonic is a surgical tool for managing the lowest frequencies in a mix, addressing a problem that conventional EQs largely ignore. Rather than attempting to shape inaudible content, the plugin acknowledges that sub-20Hz energy often represents unwanted rumble, mic handling noise, or room modes that consume headroom without contributing to the listening experience. Its dual-mode filtering - minimum and mixed phase - provides flexibility for different material, with continuously variable slope control allowing precise transition curves between pass and stop bands.
What distinguishes Infrasonic from basic high-pass filters is its compensation architecture. Removing low-frequency content creates a perceptual loss of weight and presence, which the plugin addresses through dynamic bumping and harmonic generation. These aren't gimmicks; they're practical solutions that reconstruct psychoacoustic fullness without reintroducing problematic sub frequencies. The dynamic bump responds to input levels, while harmonic generators create upper-frequency analogs of filtered content, effectively translating inaudible information into audible presence.

The integrated spectrum analyzer extends down to DC, offering unprecedented visibility into the lowest registers. This precision proves invaluable during mastering, where translating mixes to limited-bandwidth mediums - cassette, broadcast, or compact P.A. systems - demands careful frequency management. The resizable, hardware-accelerated interface handles full-screen operation without performance degradation.
For mastering engineers and restoration specialists, Infrasonic represents the definitive approach to subsonic management. Recording professionals mixing in untreated rooms will find it equally essential. Its technical sophistication and genuine problem-solving approach place it among Tokyo Dawn Labs' most focused offerings, serving engineers who understand that what you remove matters as much as what you add.
