About this plugin
dime[ms] is a mid-side processing plugin that decouples the center and stereo information of an audio signal, allowing independent effect chains on each channel. Unlike traditional stereo processing, which applies effects uniformly across the stereo field, dime[ms] lets you construct entirely separate processing paths for mid and side content, then recombine them at unity or with adjustable width control.
The workflow addresses a fundamental mixing challenge: many engineers instinctively reach for duplicate tracks or subgroups to isolate center versus width information. dime[ms] eliminates this inefficiency by providing a single plugin instance with parallel processing capability. You might compress the mid channel aggressively while leaving sides untouched, or apply high-shelf EQ exclusively to side information to enhance perceived width without collapsing the low end into phase issues.

The plugin includes real-time stereo field visualization, which serves as both a diagnostic and creative tool. This proves particularly valuable when managing problem frequencies - tightening a synth's mid content while adding subtle saturation to the sides is a single-plugin operation rather than a mixing session expense.
dime[ms] is best suited for mix engineers and producers working with dense stereo material - synthesizers, drums, orchestral elements, and spatial effects like reverbs and delays all benefit from decoupled processing. It pairs logically with your existing plugin collection, transforming how compression, EQ, and creative effects function within the stereo field. For engineers already comfortable with mid-side recording concepts, the transition is intuitive. For those less familiar with the technique, the visualization provides immediate feedback on mixing decisions.
