About this plugin
KLANG's Echolette Choir plugin captures the essence of the classic Telefunken Echolette tape delay, a legendary studio workhorse prized for its warm, musical character and natural spatial qualities. Rather than a straightforward emulation, this instrument treats tape delay as a sound design tool, channeling various sources through the original hardware's feedback circuits and allowing them to self-oscillate into harmonic territories that blur the line between effect and instrument.
The plugin excels at generating lush, evolving textures through controlled feedback manipulation. At conservative settings, it delivers the Echolette's signature warm tape saturation and vintage flutter - the subtle pitch wobble that gives tape-based effects their organic dimensionality. Pushed further, it produces swelling harmonic pads, spectral drones, and ambient washes with a distinctly analog character that digital reverbs struggle to match. The self-oscillation mode proves particularly valuable for generating evolving pad layers without requiring external modulation sources.

Echolette Choir serves producers working in ambient, experimental, and cinematic scoring who value character over clinical precision. It's equally useful for engineers seeking to add cohesive vintage warmth across a mix or as a primary sound design tool for creating textural beds. The plugin's harmonic complexity stems from the Echolette's tube circuitry and tape nonlinearities - elements KLANG has carefully preserved rather than smoothed away.
Among tape delay emulations, Echolette Choir prioritizes musicality and creative potential over accuracy. It's a compelling choice for those seeking inspiration rather than documentation.
