About this plugin
The Eddie Kramer Effects Channel is a dual-processor plugin combining tape delay and plate reverb designed in collaboration with the legendary producer and engineer Eddie Kramer. Rather than treating these effects as separate tools, the plugin emphasizes their interaction as a unified sweetening device, particularly effective on vocals and guitars.
The tape delay section models vintage tape machines operating at 15 and 7.5 ips, delivering the characteristic warmth and subtle saturation of analog tape without the complexity of a full tape simulation. The delay times lock to these tape speeds, constraining the workflow in ways that prove musically practical rather than limiting. The plate reverb uses an EMT-style algorithm that prioritizes clarity and diffusion over lush decay, making it suitable for sources that need spatial definition without drowning.

The interplay between these processors is the plugin's strongest asset. Rather than adding them sequentially, the design encourages simultaneous use, where the delay's regeneration feeds into the plate and the reverb's tail informs the delay's character. This approach stands apart from conventional delay-reverb chains and often requires less tweaking than expected.
Controls remain intentionally minimal: size and brightness parameters shape both processors, making setup quick and forcing deliberate rather than exploratory mixing decisions. The plugin performs equally well as an insert on individual tracks or as a bus processor for cohesive source treatment.
The Eddie Kramer Effects Channel appeals most to engineers seeking authentic vintage character without unnecessary complexity, and to those working within rock and pop contexts where its particular sonic signature - warm, focused, and unmistakably classic - aligns naturally with mixing goals.
