About this plugin
StereoSavage 2 Elements represents a focused approach to stereo image manipulation, stripping away the full version's extensive modulation capabilities while retaining the essential tools for informed spatial processing. The plugin's architecture centers on three core controls - pan, width, and rotation - each with distinct sonic applications. Rotation deserves particular attention as it uniquely separates the center signal from the stereo sides, creating a natural imaging effect that conventional panning cannot replicate. Applied to drum loops with spatial effects, the technique proves especially effective, allowing percussion to move while reverb tails remain anchored.
The metering suite reveals the plugin's engineering-focused design philosophy. A modern goniometer displays phase relationships, with out-of-phase content appearing below the 45-degree line as an immediate visual reference. The horizontal phase correlation meter provides real-time compatibility assessment, critical for anyone concerned with mono playback integrity. Input and output level metering addresses the practical reality that stereo processing often shifts overall level, enabling fair A/B comparison without loudness bias. The new mono solo button streamlines phase-compatibility checking against potential mix collapse.

This plugin suits mixing engineers working across genres who need transparent stereo control without menu diving. Mastering engineers appreciate its diagnostic metering capabilities alongside subtle width adjustment. Unlike comprehensive stereo tools that encourage experimental processing, StereoSavage 2 Elements maintains clarity of purpose. Its preset workflow efficiently auditions sonic approaches, while the straightforward control set prevents scope creep during critical mixing decisions. The combination of spatial creativity with rigorous metering makes it a practical addition to analytical mixing setups.
