About this plugin
STEREOLAB is a comprehensive stereo imaging plugin that consolidates the essential tools for spatial sound design into a single, logically organized interface. The core architecture includes four modular processors - Widen, Pan, Delay, and Mid-Side - arranged in a customizable signal flow, allowing engineers to approach stereo manipulation from multiple angles without chaining separate utilities.
The plugin's technical foundation rests on independent left/right channel processing combined with mid-side decomposition, enabling both conventional stereo panning and more surgical frequency-dependent spatial control. Interaural time difference generation through micro-delay circuits creates convincing phantom image placement, while the widening algorithm handles phase-coherent stereo expansion suitable for both stereo sources and mono-to-stereo conversion workflows.

What distinguishes STEREOLAB from comparable tools is its inclusion of practical mono compatibility monitoring and optional bass frequency bypass, features that prevent phase cancellation issues in limited playback scenarios. This attention to real-world deployment concerns makes it valuable for engineers mixing for diverse listening environments rather than theoretical stereo scenarios.
STEREOLAB suits mixing engineers seeking a streamlined alternative to multi-plugin stereo chains, particularly those working with vocal productions, acoustic instruments, and ambient textures. Its straightforward parameter set avoids menu diving while maintaining sufficient depth for precise spatial placement. While not positioned as a creative effects processor in the tradition of more experimental stereo tools, STEREOLAB executes fundamental stereo tasks with technical competence and practical utility, making it a reasonable choice for standard mixing workflows where reliable stereo control takes priority over sonic character.
