About this plugin
Sick 1 delivers a focused collection of horror and grotesque sound design tools built within Kontakt, making it a practical addition to the toolkit for sound designers working in film, games, and experimental music. The library's eight categories - Agony, Blunt Force, Brand, Choke, Madness, Nightmares, Purgatory, and Scream - encompass creature vocalizations, impact sounds, and textural elements sourced from unconventional recordings. The emphasis on raw vocal manipulation and physical impacts gives the library a distinctly organic character rather than purely synthetic.
What distinguishes Sick 1 from generic horror libraries is its comprehensive sound-shaping environment. The Kontakt interface provides standard controls - attack, release, filter, pitch - alongside more specialized tools like articulation switching and cross-fading between layers. The adaptable LFO system with selectable modulation targets and tempo-syncing capability allows for evolving textures rather than static samples. The inclusion of 22 custom FX presets and an 18-module DSP rack expands sonic possibilities considerably, though experienced sound designers will find the modulation matrix most valuable for creating movement and evolution.

The key and scale lock system suggests broader compositional ambitions beyond straightforward horror effects, positioning Sick 1 as viable for darker experimental and ambient work. For horror game developers, film post-production teams, and producers seeking darkly textured sound sources, Sick 1 offers sufficient creative depth and customization. The library's compact nature makes it more of a specialized supplement than a comprehensive solution, best suited for those already invested in Kontakt's ecosystem.
