About this plugin
Emotional Piano Player Edition is a meticulously sampled Kontakt instrument built from a Kawai grand piano recorded with close microphone placement, capturing the instrument's full-bodied resonance and nuanced pedal behavior. The library comprises 1,716 samples across 88 keys with an average of 10 dynamic velocity layers per note, providing the tonal gradations necessary for expressive performance work. Running on Native Instruments' free Kontakt Player (5.5.2 and later), it operates as a plugin across VST, AU, and AAX hosts, making it accessible to most production environments.
The sonic character emphasizes warmth and luminosity rather than brittleness or attack. This Kawai specimen yields a naturally forgiving tone well-suited for underscore work, singer-songwriter arrangements, and orchestral contexts where the piano functions as a supporting voice rather than focal point. The included adaptive arpeggiator system in select presets adds rhythmic dimension for those seeking textural accompaniment beyond traditional playing.

The effects architecture represents genuine utility. A 10-bay modular FX chain with full routing control and 18 built-in Kontakt DSP processors gives sound designers the flexibility to create custom environments. The convolution reverb engine supplies over 100 impulse responses, ranging from acoustic spaces to algorithmic textures. The 41 snapshot presets provide practical starting points, though experienced producers will likely treat these as jumping-off points rather than final destinations.
For professionals requiring a reliable, warmly-voiced sampled grand piano with serious signal processing capability, Emotional Piano delivers without pretension. It occupies sensible middle ground between basic stock instruments and comprehensive orchestral libraries.
