About this plugin
inDelay represents a significant departure from conventional delay processors by integrating Sound Particles' proprietary 3D particle engine into a delay architecture. Rather than treating reflections as static copies, the plugin positions each delay instance as a discrete particle in three-dimensional space, complete with air absorption modeling that accounts for frequency-dependent attenuation over distance. This approach yields delays that sound genuinely dimensional rather than merely repeated.
The core workflow centers on an intuitive timeline editor where users click and drag to place and modify up to 100 delay taps simultaneously. Each tap operates independently with customizable channel sources, enabling sophisticated spatial mixing that extends far beyond stereo. The plugin supports everything from mono and stereo through 5.1, High Order Ambisonics, Sony 360, and Dolby Atmos, making it equally valuable for stereo mixing, immersive audio production, and spatial sound design.

The "Craziness" parameter deserves particular mention - it smoothly morphs delays into lush reverberant textures, providing a genuinely useful middle ground between traditional delay and reverb that most competing products handle clumsily if at all. Random preset generation and delay movement functions add practical tools for discovering novel textures without excessive manual tweaking.
inDelay best serves engineers and producers working in immersive formats or seeking delays that transcend conventional spatial stereo imaging. It's equally compelling for sound designers prioritizing sonic depth over simplicity. While the feature set demands engagement, the visual editor makes complex multi-tap arrangements surprisingly manageable. Among spatial delay processors, inDelay occupies a unique position where technical capability meets genuine sonic character.
