About this plugin
AudioMatrix from Sound Particles is a channel routing utility designed for educational users who need professional-grade mixing flexibility without the full investment. This plugin handles the fundamental task of re-routing audio between input and output channels with precision controls that matter in real work: independent gain adjustment per connection, polarity inversion capabilities, and support for configurations up to 64 channels.
The plugin's technical approach prioritizes clarity and speed. Rather than burying routing options in nested menus, AudioMatrix presents connections as direct, manageable paths with accessible gain controls including preset values of -3dB and -6dB alongside custom settings. Polarity inversion proves particularly useful for phase alignment tasks, mid-side conversions, and subwoofer integration where phase relationships determine mix coherence.

What distinguishes AudioMatrix is its format agnosticism. Whether working in stereo, 5.1, 7.1, 9.1.6, or any intermediate configuration, the plugin adapts without friction. The speaker array management feature addresses a common studio problem: reproducing surround mixes accurately when monitoring capabilities don't match the delivery format. This proves invaluable in educational settings where students often work across varying studio setups.
For student engineers and faculty, AudioMatrix fills a genuine gap between DAW native routing and expensive console emulations. It's best suited for those mixing surround or immersive content, working with multiple output formats, or managing phase-critical signals. The educational version maintains full functionality, making it an economical entry point into professional routing workflows. The requirement for verification through support at Plugin Boutique ensures legitimate educational pricing.
