About this plugin
lo•ki is a specialized virtual piano instrument built around the distinctive sonic character of felt pianos, those modified instruments where additional felting between hammers and strings yields a notably softer, more muted attack. Sonuscore's implementation captures this tonal palette across 5 velocity layers and 5 round robins, sampled across 3 microphone positions to provide mixing flexibility without the typical convolution overhead.
The instrument's architecture prioritizes control and atmosphere in equal measure. Beyond standard note articulation, users adjust attack and release envelopes independently, manipulate dynamic range compression, and shape mechanics noise and tape characteristics - parameters that matter when the piano itself is intentionally subdued. The Glow slider represents the most distinctive feature, functioning as an ambience wet/dry control that transforms basic voicings into layered, reverberant textures without requiring external processing.

lo•ki occupies a narrow but legitimate niche. It works best for composers and producers who specifically need the psychological warmth of a felt piano's intimate character - underscore work, intimate singer-songwriter arrangements, and neo-classical contexts where a conventional piano would feel too bright or percussive. It is not a general-purpose piano replacement. For those applications, traditional sampled pianos or acoustic modeling remain superior choices.
The 5.7GB footprint and streamlined interface reflect confident design: no unnecessary parameters, no bloat. A full KONTAKT license is mandatory, which limits accessibility but ensures serious users only. Among felt piano implementations, lo•ki represents a genuinely differentiated approach, valuing sonic character over comprehensive versatility.
