Sonora Cinematic recorded a single instrument across four distinct felt layers alongside a natural, unfelted patch, resulting in a sonic palette ranging from warm and articulate to deeply muted. This quadruple-felt approach is genuinely rare in the virtual instrument market and provides genuine tonal flexibility without requiring multiple separate libraries.

The instrument's technical foundation rests on three discrete microphone arrays: AKG C414 room pair, AEA N22 active ribbon spot pair, and Neumann K184 small diaphragm condenser spot pair. Users can switch between mic positions within the GUI or route them to separate DAW channels for independent mixing. This architecture grants substantive control over proximity and character without necessitating external processing.

What distinguishes Verticale from conventional sampled pianos is its integrated signal chain. The cassette emulation, created by physically recording samples to tape at high speed and playing them back at minimum speed, imparts authentic pitch shifting and harmonic warping.
