About this plugin
SSL autoDYN pairs the proven dynamics processing of the SSL 4000 E console with sonible's AI-assisted audio analysis, creating a plugin that balances intelligent automation with genuine creative control. The processing engine models the 4K E channel strip's compressor/limiter and gate/expander sections, delivering the aggressive, musically responsive character that defined countless records from the early 1980s onward.
What distinguishes autoDYN is its integration of real-time audio analysis. Rather than applying generic presets, the plugin analyzes incoming material and presents instrument-matched starting points that reflect both the source characteristics and your chosen processing style. This generates genuinely useful initial settings across compression, gate, and expansion parameters - starting points you'll typically refine rather than discard. The visual feedback during adjustment aids understanding, particularly valuable for engineers building foundational mixing skills.

The SSL E-series character remains the core strength here. Expect punchy, aggressive compression with the presence boost that made the original console legendary, paired with fast, transparent gating. The expansion section adds dynamic range control without the pumping artifacts of vintage equipment, modernizing the original without losing its essence.
autoDYN serves two audiences effectively. Emerging producers benefit from the guided learning curve and intelligent suggestions that accelerate workflow. Experienced engineers gain faster decision-making on routine processing, spending less time in setup and more in creative refinement. The full parameter set remains accessible, so the AI suggestions function as intelligent shortcuts rather than limiting constraints.
Within the expanding landscape of AI-assisted mixing tools, autoDYN succeeds by combining established, sonically credible processing with genuinely functional assistance rather than overselling automation capabilities.
