About this plugin
Softube's upgrade path to the Complete Collection 2 consolidates their officially licensed Tube-Tech emulations into a comprehensive processing suite rooted in decades of analog mastering and tracking hardware. This collection centers on the SMC 2B multiband compressor, a three-band opto design that delivers transparent gain reduction across frequency ranges without the pumping artifacts of broadband compression. The SMC 2B excels at controlling problematic regions while maintaining overall dynamics, making it particularly useful for mastering chain duties and surgical problem-solving on mixed material.
Complementing the multiband compressor are the updated CL 1B Mk II optical compressor and Classic Channel Mk II. The CL 1B remains one of the most sonically refined opto-comp emulations available, with musical compression characteristics that favor punch and cohesion rather than aggression. The Classic Channel adds harmonic warmth through tube saturation, functioning as more than a basic channel strip. The collection rounds out with the PE 1C and ME 1B Pultec-style passive equalizers, offering the gentle, musically intuitive EQ curves that defined mixing conventions across four decades.

For mastering engineers and serious mix professionals, this collection represents a single-vendor approach to analog-modeled dynamics and tone-shaping with genuine vintage pedigree. The Mk II updates brought improved control precision and modern workflow integration without compromising the sonic character. Rather than chasing boutique plugin trends, Softube's Tube-Tech suite provides measurably transparent processing rooted in proven hardware architecture. The upgrade justifies itself for SMC 2B owners seeking cohesive dynamics and EQ tools within a unified sonic ecosystem.
