About this plugin
Softube's upgrade to their Tube-Tech Compressor Collection expands the toolkit with the addition of the SMC 2B multiband compressor while bringing Mark II refinements across the existing lineup. For engineers already invested in the original collection, this upgrade delivers genuine utility rather than incremental polish.
The SMC 2B represents the centerpiece addition - an opto-electric three-band compressor that handles transparent gain reduction across the frequency spectrum without the aggressive pumping characteristic of broadband dynamics. The architecture suits mastering applications and surgical mix corrections where you need independent control over low, mid, and high-frequency compression ratios. Paired with the updated CL 1B Mk II optical compressor, you have options ranging from transparent leveling to the colored, musical compression that defined 1970s rock and pop production.

The redesigned Classic Channel Mk II incorporates genuine tube saturation and warmth, functioning as a capable channel strip for individual tracks or buses. The included PE 1C and ME 1B Pultec-style equalizers round out the collection with passive, transformer-coupled tone shaping that remains relevant across modern production contexts.
The Mark II updates introduce higher-resolution graphics and refined control responses that justify their existence without fundamentally altering the sonic signature. These aren't radical redesigns but rather thoughtful refinements reflecting Softube's accumulated experience with analog modeling.
For mixing engineers and mastering professionals who've built workflows around Tube-Tech hardware or earlier Softube versions, this collection provides both expansion and consolidation - expanding capability while maintaining sonic continuity across your processing chain.
