About this plugin
Softube's Equalizers represents a pragmatic solution to a persistent workflow problem: the tension between surgical precision and sonic character. The plugin bundles a contemporary parametric EQ engine with the ability to instantiate modeled versions of Softube's vintage units - Trident A-Range, Neve 1073, and others - within the same interface. This hybrid architecture eliminates the need to chain multiple instances when moving between corrective moves and coloration.
The modern EQ foundation is competent and flexible. Dynamic bands respond to incoming signals in real time, reducing the need for automation in many scenarios. Full mid-side and left-right routing capabilities address stereo imaging concerns without introducing separate plugins. A spectrum analyzer provides visual feedback without obscuring the main workflow. The CPU footprint remains reasonable even when loading multiple instances.

Where Equalizers distinguishes itself is in its modeling implementation. Loading a vintage unit doesn't simply apply a static EQ curve - you're working with the full harmonic character of that hardware, then layering modern conveniences atop it. The ability to add extra bands to a Trident model, for instance, bridges the gap between what those consoles could do and what modern production demands.
This plugin appeals primarily to mixing engineers juggling both corrective and creative EQ work, particularly those already invested in Softube's ecosystem. It's less essential for purists committed to either vintage or modern aesthetics exclusively. For facilities running substantial Softube collections, however, Equalizers consolidates workflows efficiently and justifies its presence in a template.
