About this plugin
This upgrade path adds Softube's component-modeled Curve Bender mastering equalizer to your existing Zener Limiter, creating a cohesive channel strip that addresses both dynamic and tonal shaping in a single interface. The pairing is purposeful rather than arbitrary: the EQ's transparent yet characterful behavior complements the limiter's muscular compression without redundancy.
The Curve Bender operates as a four-band parametric equalizer descended from vintage Neve and EMI console designs. Its strength lies in musical responsiveness - the filters have a subtle coloration that makes corrective moves sound intentional rather than clinical, while drastic adjustments remain musical rather than harsh. This pairs logically with the Zener Limiter's ability to add texture and punch through its saturation characteristics, giving you a tool that can simultaneously manage levels and shape tone.

Component modeling here means the interaction between stages has been carefully replicated from the original hardware. This matters for engineers accustomed to how vintage gear chains behave - the nonlinearities and impedance characteristics create subtle harmonic complexity that digital emulations sometimes miss.
This upgrade makes sense for Zener Limiter owners who've found themselves reaching for additional EQ afterward. Rather than stacking plugins, you get integrated processing with shared character. It's most valuable for mix engineers working with pop, rock, or hip-hop sources requiring both control and sonic warmth, and for mastering applications where transparent yet musical processing is essential. The combined tool sits comfortably between clinical precision and vintage warmth.
