About this plugin
Eventide's UltraChannel is a comprehensive channel strip built around the company's proven compression and effects architecture. At its core lies the O-Pressor, a character-driven compressor derived from Eventide's Omnipressor that excels at adding weight and presence to sources requiring more than transparent gain reduction. Complementing this are two additional compression engines, one incorporating de-essing and sidechain capabilities for surgical control over problematic frequencies or dynamic interaction between tracks.
The plugin's signal flow distinguishes itself through FlexiPath routing, which permits reordering of the O-Pressor, standard compressor, parametric EQ, and gate according to your mixing priorities. This flexibility proves essential when addressing sources requiring unconventional processing chains - placing EQ before compression for tonal shaping, or after for corrective work, rather than accepting a fixed architecture.

The five-band parametric EQ provides surgical precision across the spectrum, while output staging includes transformer saturation modeling that ranges from subtle coloration on transparent sources to pronounced harmonic enhancement when driven harder. Micro-pitch functionality, borrowed from Eventide's H8000 hardware, enables stereo width manipulation and subtle doubling effects without resorting to external tools.
UltraChannel serves mixing and mastering engineers equally well, though its character-oriented compression and flexible routing make it particularly valuable for producers seeking tonal distinction rather than clinical dynamics control. Against competitors offering more linear, transparent channel strips, UltraChannel prioritizes sonic personality and workflow adaptability. It stands as a capable all-in-one solution for engineers favoring Eventide's processing philosophy.
