About this plugin
Submerge is a sidechain processor that automates volume modulation across a mix or individual tracks through multiple triggering methods. Unlike traditional sidechain compression, which requires routing audio to a compressor's detector input, Submerge operates as a standalone plugin with dedicated trigger sources: tempo-synced automation, MIDI note data, or external audio analysis. This architecture simplifies workflow in modern DAWs while offering precision timing that rivals hardware approaches.
The plugin's core strength lies in its flexibility. Three curve modes shape the ducking envelope from subtle to aggressive, while an invert function converts any curve into a complementary pusher effect, useful for creating swell or lift rather than reduction. Eight integrated effects - including mid/side separation, saturation, and multimode filtering - extend the plugin beyond basic ducking into creative sound design territory. The Morph, Depth, and Tweak controls provide fine-grained adjustment without overwhelming the interface.

Submerge serves both practical and creative applications. Mix engineers use it for transparent vocal clarity or rhythmic kick separation without resorting to compression. Producers leverage it for signature EDM pumping effects or hip-hop rhythmic dynamics. The audio trigger mode enables responsive behavior tied to incoming signals, while MIDI triggering suits beat-driven production where timing precision matters.
Among sidechain alternatives, Submerge distinguishes itself through trigger flexibility and effect integration rather than CPU efficiency or extreme compression ratios. It positions itself between specialized tools like FabFilter Pro-MB and creative processors, making it a versatile addition for producers and engineers seeking rhythmic modulation beyond traditional compression.
