Gate: Classic addresses the fundamental noise-reduction challenge that haunts vocal recordings, guitar tracks, and acoustic sources. Built on amplitude-based detection with high-pass and low-pass sidechain filtering, it operates with traditional gate parameters: threshold, ratio, range, attack, and release. The Vocal mode deserves particular attention, as it implements internal filtering optimized for breath detection alongside a timing circuit that prevents the audible chattering common to aggressive gating on speech content. This makes it substantially more refined than stock DAW alternatives for dialogue and sung material.

Gate: Drums represents a more sophisticated proposition. Rather than relying on amplitude thresholds, it triggers from transient detection, effectively separating initial attack from tail decay. This approach proves invaluable in drum mixing, where conventional gates often either miss natural decay or prematurely close during sustained resonance.
