SKR8

About this plugin

SKR8 is a real-time turntable engine that processes your audio through authentic scratch techniques rather than triggering pre-recorded samples. The core innovation is its seekable, reversible platter engine that responds to drawn curves, allowing you to manipulate tempo-synced audio across eight independent tables arranged as a continuous routine. The interface presents a grid-based workflow where vertical position controls platter direction - center line represents stillness, upward movement pulls the record forward, downward spins it in reverse. Drawing speed and curve shape directly translate to scratch character: sharp spikes create stabs, smooth arcs produce drags, tight oscillations generate scribbles.

The plugin includes 22 hand-modeled turntablist techniques organized by category: foundational scratches like Baby and Forward, fader-dependent techniques including Crab and Flare variations, velocity-intensive cuts such as Scribble and Lazer, and textural elements like Hydroplane and Wub. Each table maintains independent technique selection and curve parameters. Grid snapping at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, or 16 divisions ensures rhythmic precision, while freeform drawing mode allows human timing deviation. Additional controls include tempo-locked braking, backspin, and motor drag simulation across five turntable models.
