About this plugin
Eventide's H910 Harmonizer plug-in is a faithful digital recreation of the 1975 hardware unit that defined modern pitch shifting and established the sonic template for studio effects processing. The original H910 introduced real-time pitch transposition to recording, and its character - slightly grainy, with distinctive modulation and delay artifacts - became synonymous with classic rock and art rock production from David Bowie to Frank Zappa.
The plug-in captures the core algorithm: a pitch shifter paired with integrated delay and modulation sections that can be routed in parallel or series. This architecture allows for everything from transparent vocal harmonies and guitar doubling to the crystalline, slightly artificial textures that defined 1970s and 80s production. The H910-EKD variant adds envelope follower and MIDI keyboard control, transforming the effect from a static processor into a dynamic, performance-ready tool. The envelope follower particularly extends creative possibilities, allowing pitch to respond in real-time to input dynamics.

The dual harmonizer mode - recreating the classic technique of stacking two units - provides particularly effective stereo enhancement and thickness.
Best suited for engineers and producers seeking authentic vintage character rather than transparent modern pitch shifting, the H910 remains sonically distinct from contemporary algorithms. Its slight digital artifacts and modulation coloration are features, not bugs, lending personality to sources that might otherwise feel processed. For anyone working in genres where that specific character appears regularly - rock, alternative, art pop - or who simply values the unique sonic signature of early digital effects, the H910 Harmonizer remains essential.
