About this plugin
The KorgSVF brings Korg's hardware filter architecture into the digital domain with considerable precision. This state-variable filter implements separate low-pass and high-pass configurations, each built on a 4-pole topology that produces the characteristic -24 dB/octave slope associated with classic analog designs. The steep roll-off combined with resonance controls capable of self-oscillation makes this suitable for both surgical EQ work and creative sound design.
What distinguishes KorgSVF from generic digital filters is its adherence to Korg's original DSP calibration. Rather than applying arbitrary digital approximations, Sinevibes engineered the algorithms to preserve the sonic character of their hardware counterparts - a meaningful distinction when working with high resonance settings where phase behavior and nonlinear characteristics become audible.

The parameter mapping deserves particular attention. Each control has been individually designed for natural response curves, avoiding the awkward scaling that plagues many filter plugins. The built-in lag filters provide genuine practical value, eliminating zipper noise during automation without introducing the sluggish feel of crude smoothing.
This filter addresses a specific need in modern production: access to proven Korg filter behavior without hardware constraints or outboard gear expenses. It excels in mixing scenarios where you need transparent surgical filtering alongside the resonant character for synthesis or effects processing. Engineers working across genres will find KorgSVF reliable for tracking, mixing, and sound design work. Among digital approximations of classic hardware filters, its fidelity to the source hardware and thoughtful parameter design place it among the more credible options available.
