About this plugin
Sinevibes' KorgFlare brings additive synthesis capabilities to Korg's hardware ecosystem via an expertly engineered oscillator plugin. The core engine combines eight sine wave partials arranged in a harmonic series with sophisticated pitch ratio curves that reshape the spectral content across multiple harmonic configurations. This approach allows users to traverse timbral territory from conventional harmonic relationships to deliberately inharmonic, bell-like textures without the computational overhead typically associated with additive synthesis.
The plugin's defining feature is its spectrum trim function, which operates as a progressive high-frequency attenuator that maintains absolute aliasing suppression across the entire frequency range. Rather than crude digital filtering, spectrum trim gradually reduces harmonic amplitude from the top down, preserving the integrity of lower partials while gracefully eliminating upper frequencies. This technical approach eliminates a common constraint in hardware sound design: the aliasing artifacts that plague traditional oscillator modulation.

The integrated modulation architecture - combining envelope generation and LFO capabilities with simultaneous three-parameter modulation - transforms KorgFlare from static tonal source into a genuinely dynamic voice. Lag filters ensure parameter transitions remain smooth and artifact-free, critical for real-time performance and envelope-driven modulation.
KorgFlare targets producers comfortable with spectral thinking and seeking granular timbral control within hardware constraints. While less immediately intuitive than sample-based or wavetable approaches, its additive foundation rewards deliberate sound design, particularly for synthesists pursuing complex evolving timbres or experimental sonic territories. Among Korg plugin options, it occupies a distinctive position emphasizing harmonic precision and spectral manipulation over breadth of preset aesthetics.
